CURRENT PROJECT
West Point Science Center
Darlind was selected as the cast in place concrete and reinforcing steel contractor for this seismic retrofit and renovation project on the West Point campus.
The project requires the removal of the existing structure from the interior, preserving the existing historic granite building shell and constructing a new seismic concrete foundation, concrete frame and concrete pan flooring systems. The new frame is anchored to the existing structure with an engineered chemical anchor system designed to fuse the new structure to the existing which required the drilling of thousands of holes into the existing concrete structure and granite veneer. GPR equipment was utilized to mark out for drilling in order to avoid conflict with existing reinforcing and embedded items.
